What would you do differently if for one day you held a position of significant political power?

 @9J2Z8KSDemocrat from Nevada answered…4mos4MO

If someday I held significant political power, I would make sure that everyone is treated with equality and respect, I would also focus on gun control and women's rights.

 @9J3B4WK from Georgia agreed…4mos4MO

Those three issues mentioned in the response are some of the most talked about issues in America. Personally, I feel as though they are the issues in the need of improving on the most.

Abolish the deep state, fire 85 percent of the federal government, abolish the welfare state, withdraw from all foreign wars, end the fed, return to the gold standard, abolish abortion, restore state's rights, and institute congressional term limits.

 @9K57WHYSocialist  from Oregon commented…2mos2MO

"Abolish" is strong term. What consequences do you predict from these actions? Do your opinions of what is right for you make it right for everyone?

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…2mos2MO

The consequences of my plan include a return to constitutional, minimal government, the abolition of the Welfare-Warfare Empire of Lies, increased individual liberty, peace, prosperity, Christianity, and free markets. Welcome to the America the Founding Fathers envisioned.

Make all colleges the same price and under 10k a year in total cost.

 @9J488FWIndependent from Indiana agreed…4mos4MO

I don't know if this would be appropriate for private colleges. But, maybe put a cap on tuition for publicly funded schools and other costs like books and supplies. Higher education costs are in a runaway. Everyone deserves to better themselves.

Why do you think it's important, or not, for individuals to debate and discuss politics openly?

 @9KN8DG6 from Utah answered…2mos2MO

It is very important to be open about your opinions because if people are not exposed to the other side they get prideful and begin to think the other side is full of terrible people. Otherwise it would be the first idea presented always.

 @9JB4QNB from Virginia commented…3mos3MO

It's important to not debate because a person's point of view might differ from another person's

 @9JB8R2J from New Hampshire answered…3mos3MO

I think its important to disscus politics openly because it gives other people to express there opions and maybe we can learn fomr other people.

 @9JB7TZ2 from Florida answered…3mos3MO

We need to have political participation or else we lose/forget the rights of the people.

What's the most important quality you look for in a candidate when voting, and how does that reflect your values?

 @9HZ2J83Democrat from Pennsylvania answered…4mos4MO

Competency and ensuring freedom and basic american ideals. I want a candidate that, especially in these times, will be willing to protect liberty for not just Americans but our allies and partners.

 @9HZ2KW4 from Pennsylvania answered…4mos4MO

Intelligence and those who share a majority of my views. This is pretty important considering it is an important quality.

 @9HTRXDR from California commented…4mos4MO

I look for honesty, morality, and intelligence in a candidate since it lets us know they're aware of what they're job is and how to protect our country.

 @9HZ2HFH from New York answered…4mos4MO

How they can deal with tough situations and how much they can done in the office

If freedom of speech is crucial in a democracy, where should we draw the line when it comes to hate speech and misinformation?

 @9HCRHLB from Utah answered…5mos5MO

If the speech is directly threatening someone or something, I think it can be considered hate speech. Misinformation can be drawn when it is directly opposite of what the government is stating.

 @9KN8DG6 from Utah disagreed…2mos2MO

Misinformation can be drawn when it is directly opposite of what the government is stating

So if it goes against government its wrong. For some reason that doesn't sound right

 @9HCS26S from New York answered…5mos5MO

 @9HCRLZ5 from Utah answered…5mos5MO

When people are lying about threats others have done or things that may harm people. When you feel unsafe around them.

 @9HCSB78Socialist from California answered…5mos5MO

many do not like the truth freedom of speech should still be allowed and when it comes to hate speech they should be stopped but you need to hear the people out and if they have a good reason something should be changed but if there isn't that will continue to happen but don't use force

If democracy is 'rule by the people,' what do you think should be done about those who choose not to participate in the political process?

 @Name-IrrelevantConstitution  from West Virginia answered…5mos5MO

The purpose of democracy is to ensure the rights of common people. If a common person chooses not to participate, that's within their rights. Let them sit it out. Part of "rule by the people" involves allowing the people to abstain from ruling, just as our elected officials can abstain from voting.

 @9HYQJ4N from Maryland agreed…4mos4MO

The whole point of a Democracy is to ensure the rights on the common people, if the common person has decided they do not want to participate than it is well within there personal rights according to our democracy to abstain from ruling.

 @9H9FX6T from Arizona answered…5mos5MO

It is their choice to participate or not. I just hope those who don't participate are willing to admit they didn't participate when they are complaining about who the current elected officials are.

 @9H9GH3Z from Connecticut answered…5mos5MO

 @9H9JYSJDemocrat from Maine answered…5mos5MO

They should have to live with the results and be further encouraged to participate.

 @9DRRZJZ from Alaska commented…8mos8MO

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for supper. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote! (Ben Franklin quote)

  @DanielKolbin1105Independent  from Indiana commented…8mos8MO

Why can't the lamb get his two friends to vote :)

(Also, Benjamin Franklin probably didn't say that.)

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

Democracy could also just as easily be two sheep and a wolf, or three sheep, or three wolves, so this argument is a stupid assumption to begin with.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

Well you're the stupid expert here not me

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…5mos5MO

I have seen my fair share, yes. It's what happens when you're right all the time, not that I expect you to understand...

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

That was a sad attempt at a shoot-back. Claiming to be right all the time? How arrogant of you. I myself have changed my mind on a number of political things – I used to be an interventionist, now I'm an isolationism; I used to be a nationalist, now I'm a States' Rights believer; I used to be a protectionist, now I believe in free trade. I'm the one with the open mind here.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…4mos4MO

In a democracy, should the needs of the many always outweigh the needs of the few, and why?

 @9HZ3Z35 from Texas answered…4mos4MO

While it depends because I think that everyone has rights to stand up for what they think and believe in and we all should be equal and have freedom.

 @9HZ2PFX from Texas answered…4mos4MO

Yes, the helping the needs of many provides help for many more people than the needs of the few.
