What does 'fair play' mean in your everyday life and is it always easy to stick to?

In my opinion, 'fair play' means that if somebody does something to you (repeatedly) without ceasefire it's absolutely in your right to fight back and the opposing side can't complain or claim victim since they started it.

everything should be equal and fair regardless of citizenship, race, color, sex, etc....
